Ventures West Entrepreneur in Residence Program Provides Climate for Seasoned Entrepreneurs to Find New Opportunities - Barry Guld Joins Ventures West as Entrepreneur in ResidenceBarry Guld Joins Ventures West as Entrepreneur in Residence March 22, 2001 – Vancouver, B.C. - Ventures West today announced that Barry Guld has joined Ventures West as an Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR). The EIR program at Ventures West is an ongoing initiative designed to provide experienced entrepreneurs with a base of operations while they seek their next entrepreneurial adventure - which may be a new company that the EIR forms or a Ventures West investee company, which the EIR joins. Mr. Guld will be based in the Vancouver office, where he will focus on investment opportunities in the information technology sector. Mr. Guld’s career started at IBM and in 1980 he co-founded Zadall Systems, developer of pharmacy management software. Mr. Guld grew Zadall into one of the leading companies in this field with a staff of 200 and over 10,000 customers across North America. Zadall was sold to National Data Corporation (NDC) in 1994 and Mr. Guld continued with NDC, in various capacities, until 2000. In addition, Mr.Guld is one of the founders of Voyus, a Ventures West investee company, and has worked with several other early stage technology companies. "Participants in the EIR program gain a broad view of our investment operations, deal flow and network," says Robin Louis, president, Ventures West. "At the same time, Ventures West will have access to experienced entrepreneurs who we hope will form new companies to take advantage of emerging market opportunities. Each EIR is provided with an office, administrative support and IT infrastructure at a Ventures West office in Vancouver, Toronto or Ottawa. Ventures West also pays a salary to the EIR.
