Paul Kedrosky Becomes Venture Partner at Ventures West
June 27, 2006 - Vancouver, BC - Ventures West Capital Ltd. is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Kedrosky, an internationally recognized technology investor, commentator, blogger, and speaker, has become a Venture Partner with the firm. Dr. Kedrosky had previously acted as an advisor to Ventures West on investment and venture industry issues. In his new role, he will be involved in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, and providing advice and analysis on a wide range of venture capital issues. His primary investment interests are Internet services, media, consumer technologies, security, and wireless. "Dr. Paul Kedrosky has a unique and valuable perspective on how Internet technologies continue to transform media and entertainment, consumer products and services, as well as how the Internet itself continues to evolve," said Ted Anderson, President of Ventures West. "Paul has a vast audience, both as a commentator on the IT and venture capital industries, and through his blog – Infectious Greed – which is widely read and very influential in the industry.” Dr. Kedrosky has been actively involved as a seed stage investor and has participated in several successful start up companies including Netsift (purchased by Cisco), Santarus (SNTS:NASDAQ), Ortiva Wireless, and Rhevision. Dr. Kedrosky’s experience in venture capital spans a broad range of activities. Most recently he has been the Executive Director of the William J. von Liebig Center in San Diego where an innovative seed capital program catalyzes the commercialization of early stage IP centric technologies. Prior to that, he founded the technology equity research practice at brokerage firm HSBC James Capel (Canada). He is also a distinguished academic, with more than three hundred sole authored academic and non-academic articles. Dr. Kedrosky writes a monthly column ("The Opportunist") for Business 2.0 magazine, and his articles and comments on technology, venture capital, and entrepreneurship have appeared in/on CNN, CNBC, PBS Newshour, NPR, ABC Nightline, Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times.
