Ventures West Strengthens Telecommunications Investment TeamFormer Nortel Executive joins Entrepreneur in Residence Program at Ventures West Ottawa, ON - September 10, 2002 - Ventures West, one of Canada’s largest privately owned venture capital companies, announced that Rod Anderson has joined the company as an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR). Rod has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, holding senior management positions with Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, ISOTRO Network Management Inc., and Bell Northern Research. Rod will be based in Ventures West’s Ottawa office and will focus on sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities in emerging telecommunications companies. He will also provide operational support to existing portfolio companies in the telecom sector. Most recently, Rod was VP Marketing and Business Development at Nortel, where he was responsible for Service Provider eBusiness Solutions. He began his entrepreneurial career as the founder and CEO of ISOTRO Network Management Inc., acquired by Bay Networks in 1997. Rod continued as a member of the Bay Networks team then acquired by Nortel in 1999. Since leaving Nortel in 2001, Rod has been an active angel investor in the Ottawa area. Rod holds a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a registered Professional Engineer. The EIR program is designed to provide experienced entrepreneurs seeking their next business venture with the network, resources and tools to identify emerging market segments and business opportunities. Entrepreneurs in the program become part of the Ventures West management team and gain access to its operations and deal flow.
