Serveron Appoints Mike Deal as Vice President of Operations
HILLSBORO, OR, October 24, 2007 – Serveron Corporation, a leading provider of smart grid technology to help prevent unplanned transformer outages and resulting blackouts, today announced the appointment of Mike Deal as vice president of operations. Mr. Deal brings over 25 years of high technology management experience to Serveron. He served as vice president of operations at Clarity Visual Systems, a leading supplier of information display systems, with responsibility for manufacturing, facilities, and customer service. Prior to that, he was responsible for multiple manufacturing operations in Oregon and California as senior director of product operations at Credence Systems Corporation, a leading manufacturer of semiconductor test systems. He also served as a member of the management team while at Tektronix, Inc. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University, Mr. Deal has earned a “Six Sigma” Black Belt certification and is a member of the American Society for Quality. “Mike Deal is a valuable addition to the Serveron team as we ramp our production capacity to meet increased demand and enlarge our manufacturing facility and production staff by 50%,” said Bart Tichelman, chief executive officer of Serveron Corporation. “As the electric grid becomes more and more burdened with its aging infrastructure and the ever-increasing need for power, Serveron’s monitoring devices are in greater demand by utilities so they can better manage and extend the life of the large power transformers that are among their costliest assets.” Preventing Blackouts More than a dozen major electric utilities in the United States are committed to new voluntary transformer-monitoring standards to help prevent transformer failures, which are a major source of blackouts. On-site transformer monitoring helps electric utilities manage their expensive transformer assets more reliably, operate them with a greater margin of safety, enabling them to minimize or delay the costs of repairing or replacing these valuable assets. The cost of purchasing new power transformers can range from $500,000 to more than $6 million each. About Serveron Reliability of the worldwide electrical grid is paramount, and Serveron asset condition assessment and management tools are critical to utilities in improving grid reliability while optimizing the management and economics of their asset base. Smart-grid technology provider Serveron develops, delivers and supports on-line transformer products, as well as diagnostic services, that are helping restructure the way utility assets are managed. Headquartered in Hillsboro, OR, Serveron serves electric power providers in the United States and around the world. For more information, please visit: www.serveron.com. |
